Paul uses timber, with it’s integral characters and beauty, as the catalyst to bring the natural elements into play. The timber becomes a vehicle for audience participation.
His work is functional and earthy, allowing the timber to bring its own character and beauty to the fore. Connecting the audience directly with both the craftsman and the tree.
Paul uses modern tools and materials, but prefers to approach his work from the style of rural or bush traditions.
Although Paul perpetually challenges conformity, he has opted to study Fine Art in an effort to better understand the contrast of the man made and natural forms and how they can coexist harmoniously.  He is currently studying full time at the Goulburn TAFE, where the influences of drawing, painting, art history and photography are being introduced into his designs.
Most of the timber used by Paul is reclaimed from either forestry, milling, or demolitions. The River Red Gum is sourced from the harvest scraps on the Lachlan River. Felled for rail sleepers, the off cuts were destined for charcoal manufacture.
